The purpose of this project is to provide English language books to students in the Gomel area of Belarus. The material will be sent to an ESL teacher in the city, who will then ensure that the books are placed in schools that currently have English programs.

The collected books will be from a wide genre and geared for secondary school students. The books will be donated from Canadian schools, libraries (as discards) and from personal individual collections. Presently the English books being used in many of Gomel's schools are from the 1950's. This project will help to upgrade the existing English language books.

This project is ongoing. The first shipment was sent in 2003; the most recent in February of 2007.

$1000 per year = 4 shipments
The funds are for shipping and handling costs only.

Learning perpetuates learning and this project will assist young Belarussians to become more proficient in English.
