Ship for World Youth
TBA - July 12, 2008

The Ship for World Youth (SWY) is a unique international cultural exchange program organized by the Government of Japan. The most prestigious program of its kind, SWY brings together over 250 youth from around the world to engage in activities supporting international
cooperation and understanding.

Through the generosity of the Government of Japan, 11 Canadian youth will join young leaders from every continent of the world to participate in this unique cross-cultural exchange program. Applications are currently being accepted for young Canadians interested in representing Canada in this United Nations-supported international youth assembly.

Over a two-month period from mid-January to early March 2009, participants are involved in a wide range of activities aimed at fostering cultural sensitivity, understanding and friendship. Most of the program is conducted on board the cruise liner Nippon Maru, with some activities scheduled in Japan and a several ports of call that are visited during the program.

Delegates will attend seminars and lectures given by world-class professors and will discuss new avenues to overcome challenges facing humanity today. Please note that English is the working language on the Ship and that all program costs (travel, etc.) are covered by the Government of Japan.
