Along with founder Susan Hawkins, and four youth directors, the organization is run almost entirely by young volunteers from across central and eastern Canada. Click on a person's name or a picture to meet our staff.
Melanie is an energetic, outgoing person who has been interested in environmental issues since elementary school. On the verge of graduation from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science and a Minor in History, she hopes to work for a provincial or government agency/department that is concerned with natural resources, the environment, agriculture, etc... in the hopes of getting into the niche of policy development. Melanie has been a vibrant and extremely active member of Rescue Mission Canada since its inception. She has been a Youth Director of the organization since 2003.
From a small town originally, Melanie enjoys the small city, less concrete feel of Ottawa. She is a voracious reader and enjoys sports, music (all kinds), going to the gym and taking walks in Ottawa's Byward Market to fill her leisure time. A flip flop lover since the Hawaiian Global Youth Conference, summer cannot come fast enough and last long enough for her either.
